The Long Road

A fortified passage of transit with high 12 Blarn fences passing on either side, the entire length of fence topped with living RazorVine. The only place to stop and take lodging or refreshment along the road is a gift shop, inn, trinket shop named Oblivion.

The Long Road runs between DragonBone, the capitol city-castle of The Kingdom of Parsonya and BashRock, the principle port city of the kingdom. It acts a a barrier between the northern Windfield Plains and southern Dead Lands of the kingdom.

After a few years of completion and finding about one quarter of all travellers on the road dead from exhaustion it was decided to build the gift shop, inn, trinket shop known as Oblivion for weary travellers. Before the inn was built it was not uncommon to see travellers with "DragonBone or Oblivion, whichever comes first" crudely written on their cloaks. The name was taken in memory of these unlucky bastards. You can find statues immortalizing the journey in the gift shop, though if you drop it in the Trinket Room there will be no refunds.

Construction of the heavily fortified DragonBone and The Long Road nearly bankrupted the kingdom. It was believed that the reason for the construction was in part fear of nearby tribes of Invisigoths interupting natron shipments from the coast to the capital. Invisigoths later turned out to be harmless.

Wendel's tale in ElamenSTAR 221 "Four Campfire Stories" features travellers on The Long Road.
