Back to Creatures of the Wang Kingdom

A tiny species of magical dog owned and bred by Wang Kingdom royalty. The royal families of the Wang Kingdom compare them to tiny lions, however most note that they appear to be dogs with smushed-in faces and bulging eyes. They are solar-powered, and are highly active during the day - displaying strength far beyond what a dog their size should have. After sunset, they turn into immobile stone statues, only to reawaken the next day as a flesh and blood dog. They are thought to be distantly related to Gargoyles.

According to the legend of the Wangese New Year, Shiisa were once horrible beasts until the celebration of said holiday shrunk them into adorable pets.
