High Superintendent Robins

Also See: The Kings Council

Magic Sword King of Blee, forger and wielder of the Mystic Sharp-Edged Ruler, High Superintendent Robins (-30 - 82 MSKP) was arguably the first of the Magic Sword Kings. Certainly he was the fattest; for while his exploits were legendary, his adventuring days were all but finished by the time High King Ronard formed the Council in 30 MSKP.

The Life of High Superintendent Robins

Born Christopher Quicslai Robins in -30 MSKP to Intellectual parents, the High Superintendent began his rise to power as an instructor of blacksmiths. He had a fair talent for enchanting his works, so he wrought his masterwork, the Mystic Sharp-Edged Ruler, as a tribute to his deceased parents. He then took a leave of absence from his academic work and proceeded to conquer the loosely-knit city-states along the eastern coast of The Shield. He never forged another sword, magic or otherwise, in his life.

As an instructor of blacksmiths, Christopher Robins demanded nothing short of rigid discipline and absolute perfection of his students; as High Superintendent, his demanding nature did not falter. The irony noted by those close to him was that, despite a life of outward discipline and decorum, Robins was an abusive, raging alcoholic.

Even so, his life was filled with adventure, for the title of undisputed King of all Blee was neither easily won nor easily maintained. Adherents of Pahkmaan Feevar, those reclusive citizens of the self-declared independent state of the Wang Kingdom, were a constant nuisance. When Robins wasn't actively slaughtering/raping/robbing/imprisoning/torturing them, burning their villages, pillaging their storehouses, or mocking their strange culture, they were infilitrating his palace, poisoning his food, lampooning him in their theaters or taking his children hostage.

By about 20 MSKP, however, the Wangs were largely subdued, remaining a broken and humble people for centuries before returning to glory and power in the Wang Era. For subjugating the spirited and violently independent indiginous peoples of Mt. Wang, Robins' subjects celebrated him by constructing an enormous statue in his honor. The Giant of Blee, an enormous statue bearing only casual resemblance to the High Superintendent, was erected in a scant 75 years, just 13 years too late for Robins to see it completed.

By the time High King Ronard formed the The Kings Council in 30 MSKP, High Superintendent Robins had been sitting idle and scarfing butterwinks for nearly a decade. This behavior, combined with his uncontrolled drinking, had taken its toll on his physique, but the tremendously fat Robins still had his sword and his throne, and so was included on the Council. Some say that Robins' early adventures inspired a young Ronard and that the High King included Robins largely out of sympathy or nostalgia for his own childhood hero. Such speculation is probably spot-on.

Regardless, the opinionated, drunk, demanding, and comparatively aged High Superintendent did contribute somewhat to the proceedings; if nothing else, having an old war hawk around helped stir people to action at key historical junctions.

The Death of High Superintendent Robins

In 82 MSKP, at the ripe old age of 112, High Superintendet Robins suffered his sixth buttery heart attack. This one finally did the old codger in. He was succeeded by his eleventh son, the only male child who had not been flayed to death by the Deathrider Ninja Clan; through this line the rulers of Blee wielded the Mystic Sharp-Edged Ruler until the country was destroyed in the Vampyric Wars in 1003.
