Damsels in Distress, who require rescuing by Assorted Heroes, are a small but signifigant theme of the ELotH:TES franchise. Damsels invariably share the following characteristics:

The precise circumstances of peril vary widely, and may occur in any situation that arises within the series. Their rescue often brings an item of great power or a bit of important knowledge to the Hero who has performed the rescue. Once this benefit has been bestowed, the Damsel generally vanishes from the series, never to be heard from again - until she is brought up as a heroine of El-Slash.
