Ziggurat of the Hierarchs

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for The Hierarchs of Northarbor.

An epicly massive step pyramid located deep in the northern reaches of the Great Iceberg Sea. Legend holds that this Ziggurat was originally built by the Hierarchs at the dawn of time. The Ziggurat was the home of the gods and the chief location of their worship for The Four Vales and then eventually Battal. The Ziggurat though was abandoned in the days when the Hierarchs began joining their respective pantheons.

In order to protect its many deadly secrets the Ziggurat was placed on an uncharted island deep in the northern seas. The Hierarchs then placed a group of young beautiful princesses from across Battal on the island of Northarbor to protect the Ziggurat and its secrets from the prying eyes of men. These princesses eventually become the Ice Princesses of Northarbor as revealed in the graphic novel The Hierarchs of Northarbor. However they know nothing of the Ziggurat that they are meant to protect rather they exist to distract men from the Ziggurat (this of course changes when a group Ice Princesses led by Ingrid Hoffmeister find the Ziggurat in the graphic novel and learn of their destiny). The Ziggurat's power keeps the princesses young and gives some of them the powers of Elemenstation.

If one managed to get beyond the wiles of the famed Ice Princesses of Northarbor, one would still have to contend with the wide array of traps and monsters that protect the Ziggurat. Famously Char Reyarteb managed to infiltrate the Ziggurat and claim one of its prizes, the Armoire of Invincibility. As it turns out all of the treasures in the Ziggurat are in the form of armoires, as discovered by Harold Copperblack who had a much easier time of getting into the Ziggurat thanks to the aid of Mardrangion, Tower Spiralstair and the previous work of Char.
