Xtchi Master

Xtchi Masters are supernatural warriors whose ability to use martial arts and paper to control Elements originated in the Wang Kingdom, specifically in a small village known as Ko Sha. They were introduced in Mime: The True Xtchi Master, the tale of a 12-year old Mime who begins to learn the arts of the Xtchi Masters, with the help of two Water Xtchi Master companions, in order to prevent and great and terrible civil war in the Wang Kingdom orchistrated by the Fire Xtchi Masters of the Southern Agni Temple.

Xtchi Masters believe and follow the path of Xtchi, a Wang philosphy with religious overtones. Xtchi says that everything is ruled by names, which give the breath of life to the world, and that objects and existance originate from names - rather than vice-versa. Since paper is what names are written on, Xtchi masters consider paper holy, and are able to employ it in their occupations.

Xtchi Mastery is achieved via a combination of breathing via meditation, physical training, mastery of caligraphy, and mastery of paper folding.

A well-trained Xtchi master can make a piece of paper folded into a sword become sharper than steel, banish pain, control the elements, increase their physical strength, and control anything by writing its true name down with the proper caligraphy. They're also just good at flipping around and kicking ass.

There is some debate that the Cardboard Tube Samurai was actually a Xtchi Master, thus explaining why he was able to slice through just about anything with a cardboard tube.

There are five styles of Xtchi Mastery, one for each of the Elements of the Wang Kingdom.

Fire Xtchi Masters

Fire Xtchi Masters live in the south and dress in red and orange. They are passionate and enjoy baking. They are represented by a Pheonix. Their favorite food tends to be Dragonapple wine. Fire Xtchi Masters eschew defense, prefering all out offense on their opponent's weak spots using blasts of fire, swift punches and kicks, and swords folded out of paper to quickly slaughter their foes.

Wood Xtchi Masters

Wood Xtchi Masters are experts at flexibility, strength, and evasion. They can also manifest regenerative abilities. They live in the east and dress in green and brown. Their powers are magnified in the springtime. Using complex caligraphy and the correct movement, Wood Xtchi Masters can levitate Furniture, Transchant Furniliars, manipulate vines into whips, or cause a forest to smother their foes. The preffered weapon of the Wood Xtchi Masters is a war fan which they can cause to slice through any living matter. Wood Xtchi Masters are represented by tigers.

Metal Xtchi Masters

Metal Xtchi Masters are organizers and philosphers. They live in the center and dress in white and gold. Metal Xtchi Masters prefer to live by using their art for defense alone, and are able to employ their mastery over paper, metal, and caligraphy to deflect the attacks of their foes. Metal Xtchi Masters are represented by Unicorns, and prefer to use shields made of flat paper as weaponry. They are adept at using powers of magnetization and metal to turn their foe's weapons against them.

Earth Xtchi Masters

Earth Xtchi Masters are considered to be both cold and dry, and enjoy eating food in the shapes of cubes. Earth Xtchi Masters enjoy the north, winter, and dress in the colors of yellow and green. The symbol of their art is a turtle. The physical aspects of Earth Xtchi Mastery include strong kicks and staying heavily rooted to the ground. Earth Xtchi Masters use hammers folded out of paper to pummel away at their foes. They can travel through the earth and on any surface by giving it the qualities and names of the earth itself. They are also able to hurl boulders, and transmute different types of earth into others. Earth Xtchi Masters believe in total neutrality in all affairs, believing that absolute peace is the only way to enlightenment.

Water Xtchi Masters

Water Xtchi Masters live in the west, and are represented by Dragons. They dress in blue and black are are usually cold and wet. They live in the west, and are adept at healing techniques. Water Xtchi Masters are adept at using slow but elegant movements to trip up their foes, and causing walls and weapons of water to drown foes. Expert Water Xtchi Masters have also displayed a limited ability to control ice. For weaponry, they prefer to use staves of lamenated paper to defend and attack. Water Xtchi Masters are considered the most versatile of all the Xtchi Disciplines.
