Wolfram Walframovich, a.k.a. Wolfram the Fearless

A master of Pathos Elemenstation and member of the Elder Scion Collective of the Moonlit Order (and one member of the so-called "Endless Scion"). As a young adherent of the path of Pathos, Wolfram was obsessed with theoretical proof of the Seven Lost Emotions. He actually rediscovered Frippiness Gas, a light orangey-purple gas that his calculations showed ought to completely incapacitate him with an overwhelming sense of something--one of the lost emotions. But he abandoned this pursuit; because the gas had no effect on him whatsoever, he assumed he had failed.

Ironically, had he been able to feel frippy in the least, Wolfram's mind would have been completely destroyed by the amount of Frippiness Gas to which he exposed himself. He was aware of this risk, but undertook the experiment anyway, earning him a reputation for fearlessness in the face of discovery. Forever after he was known as Wolfram the Fearless.

(It is worth noting that Wolfram's rediscovery of Frippiness Gas is foundational to a much broader quest, undertaken mostly during The Savage Brutality Of The War Men and The Lost Factions of the Unknown Misgivings periods, to rediscover the Seven Lost Emotions. This quest is related in the ElemenstorLance novel, Midnight in the Garden of Lost Emotions. Three-quarters of the way through the novel, the protagonists actually emerge into the distant past, during The Magic Sword Kings Period shortly after King Ronard's wedding, revealing that the eponymous Garden actually exists outside of time. Stranded there, they become integral characters of the era, making Wolfram's discovery more Epic than he would ever know.)

At any rate, Wolfram's reputation for fearlessness did not go unnoticed, and so he became a member of the Elder Scion Collective. Later in his life, during the hunt for the Staff of the High Augur, Wolfram came across the Tharan Prophetic Codex, which foretold The True Unsundering. It reminded him of the time he had spent studying The Tymes They Are A-Endinge, in which the mad prophet Nostril predicted the return of the Seven Lost Emotions. His inherent love of prophetic workings led him into a growing obsession with the future of Battal.

Feeling that Regina Vadime should not be the only member of the Endless Scion with her own cult following, Wolfram traveled to the top of Mount Wor and founded the village of the Wortrops, an eclectic group of aged prophets strictly concerned with prophecies of future events. Although never officially recognized by the Elder Scion Collective, the Wortrops were considered by Wolfram to be the arm of the Moonlit Order most concerned with bringing about good prophecies while preventing bad ones from coming to pass. Naturally, his excitement was infectious; one could expect nothing less from so noted a master of the Pathos element.

In practice, of course, the greater part of the Wortrops were stark-raving mad--another potential side-effect of significant exposure to Pathos. But as it turns out, this sort of extremism blended well with the mission of the Moonlit Order.

Many years later, the Four Underdogs founded the Cerulean Citadel not far from the Wortrops' settlement. This is briefly acknowledged in a short and inscrutable scene in ElamenSTAR Episode 421, "Thirteen Short Tales About Battal."

When Theoric the Eversnide appeared in 20,019 with the Staff of the High Augur, it was Wolfram who most strongly insisted the Elder Scion Collective needed 16 years to wrap things up. He had actually calculated that The True Unsundering would come in 15 years. Much to Wolfram's dismay, he was mistaken. Still, he faced his death fearlessly.
