Wizards

Also See: Wizzard, Whizzard

Wizards are another one of the spellcasting professions, thought it seems that all other spellcasters of Battal look down upon wizards. This is because, aside from their unusually long lifespans, there is very little evidence of wizards using any spell other than Magniloquent palavercation. Many High Elemenstors have made allegations that the only source of wizard power is their ability to befuddle peoples' perception of their abilities through the superfluous employment of verbosely eloquent langauge, made possible by Magniloquent palavercation.

Wizards also tend to possess ancient oversized tomes of powerful arcane magic. There is little evidence that they use these books for anything other than looking up impressive sounding words. They also carry with them staves of gnarled and mysterious wood, which they use to whack things on the head, and help them walk. It is assumed they are the source of some magical power of some sort, but they have never been known to actually do anything with them besides hit people with them, lean on them, and occasionally tenderize meat with them. Wizards also wear pointy hats. Wearing a pointy hat, is cosidered to be the most important part of wizardry.

Wizards generally have varied skills in things that seem like magic at first, but are clearly not: Firework production, ancient languages, pipe-carving, aphrodisiac making, information gathering, medicine mixing, sleight-of-hand, Dyemon-cudgeling, card tricks, ring-making, persuasion, and bridge-collapsing. All of which would seem like magic to a peasant, but is clearly just a lot of strange and unusual skills that one could pick up throughout a long-life. This suggests that Wizards may just be Men randomly born with the trait of Immortality who spend their long lives picking up bizarre skills and using them to con their way into appearing to know how to cast spells.

Perhaps the most well known Wizard, and considered the archetypal example of the profession, is the Wizard Mardrangion.

Other Wizards

Wizards should not be confused with Wizzards, which are a group of people who use inherent magic they are born with to supernaturally increase their running speeds to truly Epic levels.

Nor should they be confused with the Whizzard profession, but sadly, Wizards, Whizzards, and Wizzards are usually, if not always, confused with one another by the average peasant.
