Back to Feasts and Holidays
Wangese New Year
The most important holiday of all in the Wang Kingdom, Wangese New Year takes place 30 days after the more wide-spread Jubilee of the New Year, and is considerably less-revenge filled. The festival lasts a full two-weeks, beginning on the first day of the year according to the Wangese Calendar and ending with the Flame Festival on the fourteenth day.
According to legend, the Shiisa were once ferocious beasts who would roam the Wang Kingdom eating people. But setting off firecrackers and eating lots of fatty food somehow turned them into yappy little pets. It doesn't make any sense, but the Wang people supposedly celebrate the festival anyways to make sure they're not eaten by tiny little stone dogs with manes.
