Varnak

The Varnak is a clawed, six-tentacled, winged beast who uses an old woman's skin as a tentacle-style sock puppet. It lives in the Valley of the Varnak in the Ruins of Blee. Rumored to guard a great treasure horde, including the Lost Ring Of Great Sentimental Value and possibly the Mystic Sharp-Edged Ruler, among other things.

The Varnak appears in ElamenSTAR episode 114 (The Shape of the Heart, the Shape of the Tablecloth) and again as a flashback in the fourth and final story of episode 221 (Four Campfire Stories). The Varnak's sudden apearance was mostly for the episode to have a battle sequence, as is typically expected.

Although not mentioned by name the Elemenstor Radio Dramas episode Witch Canyon appears to be a retelling of the same event.

Notes

Some rumors say that the script writer of beforesaid episode (Four Campfire Stories) had included the Varnak in this form as a graphic in-joke towards the director Tomono Shuuan as written in his blog (now disbanded). But the fandom may never know as the script writer mysteriously died a year later.
