“The Shoe Masterpiece”

Also see James Langomedes.

Nature of the Shoe Masterpiece

The exact nature of this mysterious work is completely unknown, other than that it is written on eleven pairs of children's shoes.

There are many theories on the subject and nature of The Shoe Masterpiece, none of which are substantiated due to the disappearance of the shoes.

Theories About the Shoe Masterpiece

Season 4 Pilot for The Wizbits

This is likely only wishful thinking, but many fans believe that the Shoe Masterpiece is actually the pilot of Season 4 of The Wizbits. This is one of many rumors surrounding the oft pined for Season 4, which many still believe to exist despite never having been aired. Despite the unlikelihood of this rumor, most fans seem to cling to this possibility

The "Langomedes Code"

Some people believe that Langomedes' masterpiece was in fact a novella which tied the Wizbits into Elemenstors canon pointing out the many clues laced throughout the series of the existence of characters such as MooMaa and the rumored fifth Wizbit, Phila, who many believe to have been a descendant of Harbinger Portent. There has been some suggestion that this masterpiece could have been tied to Season 4, possibly as an outline for the events that would transpire. Again, this is likely only wishful thinking.

Wizbits Holy Book

There are those who believe The Shoe Masterpiece was actually his attempt to transcribe a sudden oracular vision given to him by some otherworldly force. Members of the widely ridiculed The Heirarchs of God believe that the spirit of Phila, who they hold to be their chief Goddess, appeared to Langomedes and gave him the word that would become their Holy Doctrine. They believe the police destroyed the shoes under the orders of the spirit of MooMaa.

Some members of the Heirarchs of God actually claim to possess a copy of the Shoe Masterpiece. It should be noted, however, that the The Heirarchs of God are considered by many to be made up primarily of loons.

"Yesterday"

There is some discussion, especially on the Wizbits Consortium and Card Shop message board, that the work that James Dolan (first name John according to some sources) had actually read was the song "Yesterday" by the Beatles. Evidence suggests that Dolan had never heard the song in question, and Langomedes was often known to sing this song to himself. The first recorded mention of this theory was in an essay submitted to the aforementioned message board. The essay offered very cleverly argued testimony that this was the case by a poster by the name of yesterdays_lang334. While many who believe this theory to be correct use that essay as their main source of information, others have pointed out that the tone of the essay is possibly satirical, and claim it is actually a critique of the silliness of theorizing on the nature of the Shoe Masterpiece at all.
