The Grahtmin Disk

This powerful sacred artifact was a heriditary treasure of the kingdom of Ezermethalon. The Grahtmin Disk was a plaster disk exactly 3.14 feet across and carved with images that could either have been ancient and powerful symbolic representations of the Ur-Ur Elements or childish drawings of various cheeses; history is not quite clear on that point. Although the origins of the Disk have been lost to history, it was known to be held by the Ezermethalonian priesthood for centuries. The Disk was one of the reasons that Rokwort Dakruf invaded the kingdom in 9150; he wanted the Grahtmin Disk's power for himself. Unfortunatly for Dakruf, the priests of Ezermethalon smuggled the Disk to safety by the simple expedient of strapping it to the back of their oldest priest, Gorkin the Old and Incontinent, under Gorkin's robe. Any who stopped or questioned the priests were answered with detailed and stomach-churning descriptions of the old priest's skin disease and how infectious it was, so of course he'd got to leave the city right away now, hadn't he?

After this daring escape the priests hid the Disk in the farmlands of Ezermethalon until they were able to restore it to the Ezermethalonian people at a new (and shinier) temple in New Capitol City. There the Disk rested until it was split into 3,895,074 pieces by a careless acolyte. Although 3,895,070 of the shards were lost, the remaining shards soon became known as the legendary Four Plaster Shards. After the fall of Ezermethalon, a rumour grew amongst the kingdom's survivors that these shards, the remains of Ezermethalon's greatest treasure, could restore the kingdom if they were brought back together. The rumour was not as forthcoming about exactly how this might work. Perhaps shiny lights would be involved? Maybe some thunderclaps?
