The Dawn of Unlight's Setting, Part 1: The Rise of Dusk

The fifth book in the The Resundering and Beyond collection of the ElemenstorLance series. This book, as well as the following book, The Dawn of Unlight's Setting, Part 2: Victory's Deathknell, are set during The Unlight Eonicles, and the backdrop of the narrative is the epic Unlight War.

The principal plot is ostensably the misadventures of Lyssa Circumstances, great granddaughter of Perilous Circumstances, the first Queen of the Singing Throne. As was her great grandmother, she is bound to do the bidding of this throne when it appears in Battal, and this bidding typically involves a parchment with a list of people who must be assassinated at point blank with a crossbow bolt to the head. Interestingly, large portions of the book progress without this character appearing or being mentioned.

Other plot threads woven through the book involve major forces of good and evil at work in the lands of Battal during this period of great strife. The assembly of The Twelve Twisted Evil and The Reunified Elfish Council of Elven Factions are recounted in this novel, as well as the first half of the primary conflicts of the war.

As the novel draws to a close, war still wracks the lands, and not one crossbow assassination has been depicted, although a failed attempt is implied.
