tim Interestingly, in a rare inclusion of events from the wang era in the 13 books, I believe that Toriyama and Otoomo are the islands visited by the Glaivemistress of Arvalyyon in Book 13, and the war between the pirates and ninjas there was still going on. The inhabitants of the island seemed be unaware that the wang era had ended more than 20,000 years ago.
