Movie #2 スーパーエラメン☆ - フィラです! Super ElamenSTAR - My name is Phila! 22nd September, 1999

Plot

Taking place several years after the events of seasions 1-3, this movie focused on how the Four Underdogs were inspired to found the Cerulean Citadel as the first serious school of Elemenstation in Battal.

When movie opens with Lander Phoenixsong, who has taken on several younger followers (apparently with the Knack) and is teaching them several Parsum Earth gears. Wendell appears with some flashy Fire displays, and Zula ups the ante with her display of a gigantic wind effect. The students, now excited by the spectacular display of one-up-manship then turn to Phila, who is standing under a nearby tree, fingers nervously worrying a tissue. Blushing furiously, she turns and rushes from the group.

The story follows the four and their group of growing students, paying much attention to the internal lapses of confidence that plague Phila and drive her to distance herself from her friends, despite her formidable abilities.

The primary antagonist of the movie is Blood Elemenstor Dougan Paintbrush, and it is the climactic battle against him at the top of Mont Elim where Phila finally unleashes her powers... though not of Water, but of Ice. In a shockingly powerful display of Ice Elemenstation, Phila defeats the Dark Elemenstor and saves her friends. Dougan, who was carelessly referring to her as Meela through-out the movie, had discounted her as a powerless tag along.

It is here, at this spot that the four decide to found the great school.

Trivia

In this movie, the Four Underdogs have upgraded their battlestaves to Elemenstaves. This is one of the few "power upgrades" that take place completely off-screen, so of course the 10 years between this movie and the end of the third season are often explored via Fan Fiction.

Although beloved by fans of the books and ELotH:TES continuity buffs, the film as critically panned and publically ignored. The film became known more for what it didn't contain than what it did. Due to last minute budget cuts, the studio removed a sequence featuring Furnal, a furnace Furniliar. Unfortunately, the publicity department had already distributed thousands of Furnal, the Infernal Furnace Furniliar CCG cards in popular gaming magazines. As Furnal never appeared in an episode, movie, or video game, the card was banned from all sanctioned tournament play.
