Steward Earl Sloan

One of the Magic Sword Kings of The Kings Council and wielder of Dullswyrd, ruler of The Kingdom of Yymp. His seat of power was the fortified city of Northern Crag.

Although Sloan had a magic sword and ruled one of the kingdoms of the twelve realms, Sloan was not a true king. Rather he was a ruling Earl of the hereditary line of Stewards of Yymp which ruled the kingdom awaiting the return of the line of the True Kings of Yymp, the last of whom had ridden with his son to battle forces rumored to have arisen deep within the shrouding fogs of the southern lands of the kingdom. None returned but no definative word or sign of defeat could be discovered, and so the Earl of Northern Crag and his sons have kept the kingdom, awaiting the return of the rightful heir.

As a steward, Sloan did not sit in the throne at the table of The Kings Council that was reserved for the True King of Yymp. Instead, he sat on a small milking stool that was next to the throne, which was rather uncomfortable. It also made lunch meetings quite inconvenient, for his chin barely cleared the top of the table. This was particularly tiring when Governor Haiden would take the "speaking bell" during these meetings and exercised his "right of audience" for hours on end about only the most tangentially related civic ramblings.

The ruler of the lands of Yymp, which are comprised of huge tracks of the western lands, is not all that influential within the larger political landscape nor within his own kingdom. The reason for this latter (and therefore the former) is the unique geographic makeup of the kingdom.
