Starings

Somewhat like a cross between a parrot and a sparrow, these small dark brown birds are swift of flight and fly swift and far across the lands of Blee.

Most notable of their peculiarities is the fact that they are known to have staring contests with anyone or thing that happens to make eye contact. Although unable to make reasoned speech they are able to mimic words spoken to them frequently enough, and also will learn words from other Starings.

Much as parrots often are quited as saying "Polly want a battered floog bar?", if a staring knows one phase it is probably, "No, you blink."

Starings are known to mate for life.
