Slimees

Slimee is a catch-all term for a variety of life-forms that originated from The Underdeep. They are believed by many to have been created during a botched attempt to simultaneously Elemanifestate the Elements of Earth, Water and Life in order to create a brand-new, servile race to carry out their master's every whim. However, the first Slimee took on an existence of its own, slithering away from its disgusted creator to brood, and also to breed. Due to the imperfectly-specified nature of that first ur-Slimee, it was apparently capable of taking on properties of the various objects that it fed upon, and even the characteristics of its environment. Since then, its innumerable offspring have "Elevolved" into thousands of families and varieties of slimee, including the much-feared yet largely harmless Gelatinous Triangle, the ever-changing Soop D'zure, and the ubiquitous but tasty Lybrarican Paste.

Common Varieties of Slimee

  • Green Slimees are often found dripping from Gargoyles' noses during the winter. No-one really wants to know why, because it is disgusting.
  • Stone Slimees commonly infest rock guardens and quarries. Indistinguishable from regular stone (except for the fact that they are actually slimees) stone slimees reproduce by fracturing into smaller pieces slimees when struck sharply.
  • Slowsand. A Slimee that has absorbed a significant amount of dirt, sand or finely divided gravel can take on an appearance strikingly similar to ordinary garden-variety quicksand, except that instead of sinking slowly into it until you disappear entirely, only to re-emerge suddenly after all hope was thought to be lost by your friends and companions, you will simply be absorbed and digested, very very slowly.

Many Slimees are only vulnerable to Fire, with exceptions such as Hot Burning Firey Flame Slimees, which are only vulnerable to everything else.
