Silverstone

Tied to Earth and Stream

A very powerful epic metal. Silverstone was the material that most enchanted weapons derived their power from before rubian was discovered and put to practical use in the field of item creation. It’s inherent rarity and the fact that it is slightly less powerful than an infusion of a rubian shard have caused its use to decline; some item crafters, including many of the Forge-Kings, still use it to give their weapons more power than rubian alone could give.

Elves often make their weapons are often made of Silverstone, mostly because of the large stores of the material they purchased (mostly using their more desirable children) from the ancient Nevelost city of Merrigold. It is said that the eyes of the elf-like Nevelost betray that they are eternally bound to the metal, which glows with the same pale blue fire as their own eyes. The Dwarves generally buy their Silverstone from other sources and will only accept it from an Elf when they think it will make them look superior to the Elves.

The Nevelost believe that the existence of the metal is attributed to the Encients, who must have left the precious ore to them as the last of their blessings... and that this is the reason that Silverstone and the eyes of the Nevelost glow with the same luminance. It is at this point in the conversation that Elves usually tell them to shut up before they get what's coming to them.
