Shezdor

Shezdor was a warrior's warrior -- a dark, brooding anti-hero who answered only to the sword.

Shezdor's origins lie shrouded in mystery. This tall, dark figure was known to cloak himself in only the blackest of demonleathers. His face was hidden behind the legendary Mask of Akhejarr, bestowed by the most mysterious Deathrider Ninja Clan. His long black hair was rumored to take on a life of its own when he was engaged in battle, snatching daggers from the air and snapping at his enemies. The few who heard his gravely voice reported that it sounded like death himself.

Shezdor's power were derived from his extensive collection of ancient swords. By wielding a given sword, he was granted the power of its ancestral spirit. The sword of the Demon God Resh'zantharr granted him the power of flame, incinerating his opponents with a single slash. The Gripless Sword granted him the power of self mutilation, which wasn't so useful after all.

His life's sole purpose was to seek out all of the legendary 100 Swords of Sepathok, to become the greatest swordsman in the twelve realms. He died at the hands of the Weird Thing, the protector of the 99th sword, Nhek'miggon'uil -- and died one sword short of the full one hundred. His epic quest is chronicled in The Journey of Shezdor: Shadows of Darkness, a game for next-generation systems.

Shezdor and the Water Moon Demon Blade

It was eventually discovered that, unbeknownst to Shezdor, the 100th Sword was buried under his house the whole time.

The 100 Swords of Sepathok were scattered around the world again by the Weird Thing, as a sign of respect to his defeated foe. Weird Thing was never known for intelligence, but he was known for laziness. His idea of 'scattering' basically amounted to 'dump half the swords and body in the nearest hole'. But fate determined that this hole was over a subterranean river, so the swords scattered into the sea. Probably there are some fishes having sword duels even today. The other half of the swords were mailed as anonymous Valentines the next February.

Shezdor was accompanied in his quest, by his Furniliar Pouchis the Magical Arsenal, who kept all his swords.

asura Note that Shezdor is holding the Blade of Obscure Prophecies at the very moment its horrific visions turn his hair white. For more background on the original sketch I made the picture from, see the article on S'yrf'yl the Immortal.
