Shellcracker

One of a pair of twin swords, along with Fleshpicker, possessed by K'ng P'lv'r. Shellcracker was transchanted with the ability to shatter any armour, and Fleshpicker with the ability to unnerringly seek out and pierce any body part its wielder commanded. This should have made K'ng P'lv'r virtually unstoppable in battle, but unfortunately a convolution of the applicable Item Laws had placed the following restrictions upon the swords:

  • They both had to be wielded at once for the enchantments to be fully effective. (Law 38)
  • Each sword was too heavy to be held with only one hand. (Strangely, Law 200 at the very least)
  • The swords were virtually identical. (Law 101)
  • If the wielder got one sword mixed up with the other, (as K'ng P'lv'r did on one or two embarrassing occasions,) it would bounce back and hit them in the face. (Law 140, Law 197, and Law 218)

Nonetheless, the potential power of the swords was very tempting, and for a while K'ng P'lv'r experimented with various methods of overcoming these limitations. He temporarily utilised an ingenious pair of scabbards with wheels at the tips, enabling him to drag the swords along behind him when he wasn't using them. He also did a lot of upper body workouts to build up the strength of his arms so that he could actually get the damn things off the ground. Another little-known fact is that his battle cry of "Sanctity Lives! For Ronaaaard!" was actually a mnemonic to help him remember which sword was in which hand (Shellcracker Left, Fleshpicker Right).

K'ng P'lv'r eventually stopped using both swords, around the time of his second slipped disc. He successfully appealed to the Item Law Makers Guild to have the transchantment upon them changed, so that they would function independently but with reduced power. Henceforth he wielded only one at a time, generally tending to favour Shellcracker for the greater practicality of its power.
