Red and Orange Spotted Mushroom

A rare type of fungus found growing amongst abandoned houses, bricks, sewers, and large stones throughout the countrysides of Battal. It is easily identifiable for many unique characteristics. First of all, it is about the size of a 10-year old human child. Also noticable is the prominent red and orange spots from whence it gets its name. Each fungus also has two small black dots on the stem, giving the eerie impression that it has eyes. The fungus has a complex root cap of sloughing cells that allows it to slide away from predators if it senses motion, leaving a disgusting trail of fungal goo wherever it goes.

They are considered a delicacy for many, chiefly for its hallucinagenic properties. Whoever consumes the cap will experience the sensation of growing anywhere from two to ten times their own height that can last up to 72 hours. However, no actual transformation takes place. Because of the increased size, people who consume them often think of themselves as invincible, only to find out quickly that this is patently untrue. Thus, on battlefields, many opposing armies will continually try to offer eachother Red and Orange Spotted Mushroom Soup, in the hope that they will drug eachother into making costly mistakes.

They are popular amongst Dwarves, who will often ilegally grow them, and eat them in order to "Get Tall", although this is considered a violation against dwarven law.

The Mushrooms were prized by Emperor Me-Ya Moto of the Wang Kingdom, who ate one no less than once a week in his later years.
