Quilder

Tied to Stream

The Quilder is the native currency of the Quilp. Each Quilder is composed of a single quill. This simultaneously makes all Quilp millionaires and drives inflation quite high. The value of a given Quilder depends on the quality, length, and sharpness of a given quill. Dealing in Quilders can be quite dangerous, and many foreigners have suffered loss of vision performing currency exchange, leading to a common saying, "You'll put your eye out."

The use of dangerously sharp currency has effects that ripple thoughout Quilp society. For instance, "Tipping" one's server involves hurling said currency toward the server. Because of the danger involved in this, Quilp often "stiff" their servers, giving them the stiff, dull end of a quilder for safetey's sake.

Quilders also have their own intrinsic value. They serve as Battal's only source of non-enchanted pens. Also they are often made into colorfull capes that are popluar with Women Folk and Fancy Men in some countries.

Small quilders of little value are often cast aside on the streets, making walking in Quilpopolis quite dangerous, unless you are wearing one of the excellent pairs of leather shoes so popular in the city (and with good reason).

Since Quilders are a natural element, Quilder Elemenstation is possible. Quilder Elemenstation can, among other things, be used to modify the qualities (and thus value) of Quilders. This is generally frowned upon by the Quilp, due to the involved risk of royally screwing up the economy.
