Back to Wizbits: Elemenstor High Characters

Professor Albert Cortex

Professor Cortex is the Elementics instructor at the Canadian Citadel in the Wizbits: Elemenstor High series. He also teaches chemistry classes for the more mundane aspects of the course curriculum.

Professor Cortex is easily recognizable by his large, bald, oddly shaped cranium. A common rumor around the school is that he is a Loon who tried to increase his own intelligence by making him believe himself to be smarter than he really is. This has led to various odd social tics that come out at odd and sometimes frightening times.

Professor Cortex has a great disdain for himself, his lot in life, and the students in general. Growing up, he had an intense interest in chemistry and wanted to become a developer of new medicines. However, after discovering he had the Knack, his parents forced him to become an Elemenstor, which he has resented ever since. He is well known for his biting and sarcastic comments, which can rip through a teenager's self-esteem like a blowtorch through tissue paper.

Professor Cortex futilely tries to interest his students in science and technology, and to get the budget for the school's science department expanded - but most people just don't care about such things at a magical school. He particularly comes to blows with Coach Troughberry, although the two begin to become friends by the end of season 1.

Professor Cortex has a special hatred for Henry Kinlo, as his father is the owner of a large pharmecuticals company that rejected his application. Cortex has taken a liking to Sparks, ever since he helped Cortex smash Kinlo's ridiculously expensive chemistry set in Episode 14. In Episode 20, Albert goes on a date with the recently divorced Mrs Annkha, the results of which are best left to the imagination.
