Pizzlemoore

Pizzlemoore is a very old city in southern Mandleclang. It is most famous for being the birthplace of the great and epic Harbinger Portent, though in modern times it is best known for its immensely popular annual fumblaroo tournaments, whence it generates most its revenue.

History

It is generally held that Pizzlemoore was founded at some point during The Wandering Age. At the time of the birth of Harbinger Portent, Pizzlemoore was still a relatively small town whose primary source of income was the export of shoestuffs. (As an aside, the oldest of Pizzlemoore's seven castles, Onsah Deeps, is named after Harbinger Portent's family).

After the hyperinflation caused in Mandleclang by The Sundering, Pizzlemoore took the unprecedented (and as yet unrepeated) step of attempting to remove itself from the time stream until the economy had stabilized. Rogue Chronosorcellor Creft Mysterius (a stage name) decided the best time for the town to re-enter the time stream would be just after The Unsundering, and sent it then. However, the Chronoclave would have none of that, and sent an agent back in time to assassinate Creft as he was in the act of timesorc'ley.

What actually happened to Pizzlemoore between The Sundering and The Unsundering is considered to be unknowable at best or paradoxical at worst, and it is considered very bad form for historians to mention it.

After The Unsundering the Pizzlemoorean Archcouncil of Kings and Ministers officially repurposed the entire city to tourism, with emphasis on mostly phony 'Harbinger Portent Tours' and the annual fumblaroo tournament, which creates such a huge influx of contestants as to quadruple the population of the city during tournament season.

Culture and Law

The practice of the unique local judiciary custom of Pizzlewali lends credence to the theory, put forth by local possible historian Fumias Humblor, that Pizzlemoore was once a separate kingdom which was at some point absorbed by Mandleclang, though no one is exactly sure when this took place.

Irrespective of its historical status, at the time of The Wizbits and The Rise Of The Elemenstors, Pizzlemoore has a great degree of local autonomy from the Epic High Court in Middleclang (as depicted in certain events of the novel, The Mincing Kingdom) . At the top of the city's power structure is the Grand Satrap, and his deputy the Epic High Liaison. The Archcouncil of Kings and Ministers is the highest local body, on which sit the seven kings of the seven castles, and twenty-eight elected Ministers without Portfolio. The Archcouncil, once convened, will appoint between one and five Mayeurs, which are instrumental in the local judiciary.

The local Pizzlemorean government is also notable for having the most Magistrate Prophet Neighsayers an astounding fifty-eight elected offices and thirty-one appointed offices are dedicated to this profession. The city thus attracts a great number of them, and it is not at all uncommon, as in ElamenSTAR episode 218, Homeward Bound, to see an unemployed Magistrate Prophet Neighsayer lollygagging around until election time.
