Phantasy Island

Back to Breakened Battal

Phantasy Island

An island that appeared in the center of The Breathable Sea after the Geotelespacial Fractarent wrought The Great Breakening of Battal. It was the smallest of the 16 islands; strictly speaking, it was slightly smaller than The Islet of Portundia, which was never granted island status. This blatant favoritism was almost certainly due to the remarkable nature of Phantasy Island.

Phantasy Island is ruled over by an unlikely couple: a Djinn known as Genie Simmons and a dwarf known only as "Battoo." Their trademark phrases were, respectively, "Feel the burn!" and "De pain, de pain!" Descriptions of the island varied wildly from tourist; apparently, Genie Simmons was able to anticipate wishes before they had even been made, and adapt the entire island to accommodate those wishes. But inevitably, the "wish" would be used to teach the tourist something about themselves and their cardiovascular well-being--often, a lesson that resulted in someone dying. Despite the abject terrors ultimately awaiting almost everyone who visited the island, the prospect of living out one's every dream in a tropical paradise proved just too enticing for most people.

Phantasy Island appears in the epicly infringing EFWQ XII: Curse of the World Devouring Water as the location of the "Golden Egg," the fourth artifact recovered by Ken and company. The island is portrayed as the location of an enormous resort and casino, with several mini-games for the player. The "Golden Egg" is the grand prize in the Peep Racing event. What the island's manifestation as a resort casino indicated about Ken's deepest wishes is not explored in the game.

Like many of the islands that appeared in The Great Breakening, it was apparently not the will of Genja Hii that Phantasy Island survive the unbreakening process. However, unlike some of the islands, the memory of Phantasy Island survived history, and occasionally travelers will return from sea, claiming that they were LOST on an island that granted wishes and seemed to be unhinged in time and space.
