Peter

Also See: The Twelve Twisted Evil

Peter was the twelth of The Twelve Twisted Evil. Hurled mercilessley into The Clockwork Fortress for jaywalking, Peter's cynicism grew by leaps and bounds. What was once a mere mortal man became a sarcastic, cynical mere mortal man. Nevertheless, Peter's wit was slightly quicker than average, and his biting verbal stings won over the Vampyre Lord Vhadxi, convinced that Peter, armed with such quips as "Trying to do something noble, eh? Good luck with that" would be a valuable addition to his group of evil. Peter was slightly ambivalent about joining; on one hand, he was rather annoyed at much of the world in general. On the other hand, he doubted that being one of The Twelve Twisted Evil would make much difference one way or another.

Eventually, Peter relented, caving in when Vhadxi told him he could make fun of Armba Alomba's cat puppet, Scuzzy, without fearing retribution. Peter would often take advantage of this privilege, telling anyone who would listen that Scuzzy was "pretty much a projection of Armba's subconscious, which is COMPLETELY BONKERS!"

Peter's accomplishments and deeds during the Unlight War often consisted of fetching something for someone and acting bitter about it. Heroes attempting to defeat The Twelve usually ignored him, both because he seemed like he wasn't a threat and because, secretely, his barbed comments tore at their fragile self esteem. More than one hero had to disengage from an Epic fight with The Twelve, hiding thinly-veiled tears, dismayed at Peter's comments about their weight, dress, or mannerisms.

Peter was awarded the title of "The Devastatingly Witty" after he laid waste to a small but determined army of good by simultaneously entertaining them and demeaning the values that they held dear, until they no longer viewed the world with anything amounting to hope. They all went home and glowered at things. Vhadxi was actually mad about this; he had planned on slaughtering that army. The title he proposed for Peter was nearly identical and rhymed with "The Devastatingly Witty," but the last word was significantly more vulgar.

Ultimately, Peter became fed up with his unlife and quietly slipped away from the twelve, undertaking a quest to return to a mortal living life. This tale is told in Peter and the Vampyre.

Excerpt from Peter and the Vampyre

Peter pushed open the heavy stone doors and golden rays of sunlight flooded into the crypt. The light stabbed into his eyes and left him temporarily blinded, but it did not cut into his skin. There was no searing pain, this light, this intense, holy, untouchable light, a thing to be respected, feared, and longed for by his kind warmed his body and gave strength to his weary soul.

His raised his arms and held his arms in front of his face to sheild his eyes. He looked about and saw the grounds in a misty, bluegrey dawn, a way in which he had never seen his sire's grounds before. The vibrant purple violets that grew between the weeds, the green in the grasses that grew up around the house. On the horizon, the sunrise, a firey halfcircle of luminescence crowned in orange and gold.

A smile came to his dry, cracked lips, for the first time in untold ages. What was it that his sire had called sunlight? Ah.. Helladrian's Fire.

Additionally, the biting sarcasm and vaguely vampyric backstory hinted at in the tale have lead many to suspect that Peter the Slayer, a member of The Dark Four to appear in season II of ElamenSTAR may have been the same Peter, although this could only be possible through some sort of manipulation of Timenes. Wouldn't be the first time. Or it would, assuming further manipulation of Timenes to ensure this.
