Penny Arcade

The name of what is refered to as the "Swingingest, Craziest, most far-out incredibly rad resturant* in Battal". It appeared in several episodes of The Wizbits, including "A Warm Welcome", "The Trouble with Tubas", and "Exit, Skip!".

In 1998 a webcomic by the name of "Penny Arcade" was launched, with one of the characters being named Tycho Brahe. At the beginning of the site's history, their FAQ explained that the comic's name and Tycho's name were both "tributes" to the Saga. Later this attribution was removed from their FAQ, and since then Penny Arcade (the webcomic) has continued to steal material from the Saga, making no attempt to give credit for the source of their work.

When a dozen Saga fans showed up en masse at Comic Con 2004 to confront the comic's authors face-to-face about their obvious theft, the authors claimed that they were fans of the Saga and that their use of Saga work "wasn't meant as theft, but as tribute - imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." When further pressed, they promised to acknowledge their debt to the Saga on the front page of their site. This promises were never fulfilled; and at every convention since then, the Penny Arcade authors have kept at least one Japanese bodyguard on hand, for the sole purpose of forcibly ejecting anyone who attempted to mention the Saga to them. To this day the authors of Penny Arcade continue to rip off the saga without giving credit. (For example, see the cover of the second Penny Arcade book, which clearly plagiarizes the Cerulean Citadel and Mount Wor.)

*In the original Japanese version of the show, "Penny Arcade" was a pub that specialized in serving a particularly potent form of alcohol. This was deemed unacceptable for North American children, and all instances of "alcohol" were instead refered to as "fowl-smelling milk." Ironically, this change created a massive controversy in which parents accussed The Wizbits of defaming milk in order to make children refuse to drink it and make their bones brittle.
