New Game

Description

Attempting to heroically commit suicide after the results of her previous match, Shiro comes to Aiko's rescue by reminding her that no matter how bad she is at card games, at least she's not a Furnie. Relenting in her attempts to throw herself in a wheat thresher, Aiko decides to actually learn the game and goes into a practice bout with a new opponent.

Unfortunately, her first new opponent is Svald Vhadxi, who, though "a complete newbie", suddenly discovers a well of power and tears her a new card-playing orifice. Shiro proclaims that amateur hour is over and he's going to take the reins. The Glowing Fence Cage of Combat decends and the game officially begins with Shiro's first turn.

Meanwhile, Aiko proclaims that she has a date with a wheat thresher. Nobody immediately cares.

Notes

Fans have been confused for some time about why Aiko chooses to play Svald again in order to learn the game rather than Shiro or an easier opponent. Even more mistifying is her belief in Svald's declaration that he is a newbie even though she was defeated by him in the previous episode. Some theories have pointed to short term memory loss on the part of Aiko, other's have waged that since Svald changed his clothes from the last episode Aiko didn't recognize him. Most, however, have attributed this to her overwhelming stupidity and to the animator's laziness as many of the scenes from this episode are just touched up scenes from the previous episode.
