Myrtle Breakwind

One of the Four Underdogs that attempted to defeat Char Reyarteb and MooMaa in Book 4.

Mrytle helped to defeat Char Reyarteb in the Elemenstor Radio Dramas which take place immediately after the events of Book 4.

Myrtle grew up in the half-walled stronghold of L'fh'ik in K'th'ith'h, where her father was the Gate Keeper for the fortess. Most of her childhood and young adulthood was spent within the walls of the fortress where the population was timid and xenophobic after the terrors of the Vampyric Wars almost decimated the kingdom.

Myrtle's Water Elemenstoring abilities first unveiled themselves soon after she found a strange item (which later turned out to be a perfect rubian) and a few days later woke up on the morning of her 13th birthday and found that her bed was floating in 5 feet of water. Her mother took her to Dame Ellawishus to be mentored in the craft of High Elemenstation. Her powers grew to be quite formidable, although she always lacked the faith in her own abilities that usually accompanies greatness.

Her first exposure to Elemenstors of the Greater World (as the L'fh'ikian called all that was not L'fh'ik) was when a great storm drove three travelling Elemenstors to seek shelter within the gatehouse, where she was amusing her father with minor Cantrips.

When the storm had passed, Myrtle was convinced that she should travel with her new friends, making her the fourth of what would later come to be referred to as the Four Underdogs, who would ultimately go on to defeat Char Reyarteb in the Battle of the Rebuilt Kingdom in the Savage Barrenlands.

In The Underdogs of Rubian, as in The Wizbits, this character plays the Tuba, although no mention of this one way or another is made in the Elemenstor Radio Dramas, since her pre-underdogs backstory is hardly explored in that medium.

Myrtle went on to be the first Grand Elemenstor of Water.
