Mort and the Really Cranky Toddler

The tale of how Mort the Dairyman was able to charm a really cranky toddler, and thereby save the town of Little Vinkum from a plague of lounge singers.

"And I'd like to dedicate this song just to you," continued the lounge singer in a smarmy tone as the brute squad wrestled him into the wagon and locked the door.

"I believe," said Mort, "that is the last of them."

The mayor was pleased. "Mort, if it wasn't for your foresight that really cranky toddler may have been the end of Little Vinkum."

"And its cheese. But I think that all the townspeople should share in the pride of routing this plague. It was an honor working together."

"Believe me Mort, this day will go down in the annals of history as the day Mort saved this town . . . no need for your well known modesty here."

The mayor reached out and shook Mort's hand as the wagon trundled off to the gentle strains of Fly Me To The Moon.
