Misnomer

Bogyn's Nastiness Rating: -2 (Harmless)

Found dilligently tunneling around two to three feet below the Swamp of Despair, these small blind rodents are a Blight of Joy for the locals of the area. Originally thought to be a Blight of Horror, misnomers were found to actually be quite useful in that their primary diet is based on the Slaughter Beetle. These beetles eat the small red beets that the moisture farmers of the area grow. This infuriates the farmers to no end. It is not uncommon to hear echoing on the arid steppes of the Swamp of Despair, "Damn Slaughter Beetles ate my beets!." Also the Misnomer's only natural predator is the (rather disgusting) Obscene Slug. But enough about the Slaughter Beetle and the Obscene Slug as you came here to hear about the Misnomer.

Misnomers live in famlies of 987. Each family unit consists of a partriarch misnomer, a matriarch misnomer and 985 Goddamn Lazy Kids. Most of the time of the patriarch is filled with getting the G.L.K.'s to stop sitting around underground and go find dinner (in the form of a defenseless vegetarian Slaughter Beetles). When he is not doing this the patriarch is usually eating or digging tunnels randomly throughout the Swamp of Despair. The patriarch is easily identified in the horde of rodents because he's the only one that seems to get anything done.

These fun furry rodents tend to live five to eighty years and range from six inches to four feet long. Though it should be said that these are just estimates based off the hearsay of a very drunk and belegerent moisture farmer paid very poorly to give an accurate estimate to the size and age of misnomers. The males of the species tend to be larger than the females but only in their minds (as with many other species.) and generally think they do the majority of the work creating tunnels and coordinating attacks to bring down Slaughter Beetles (which should be mentioned are much smaller than Misnomers and on the whole pacificsts).

More information about Misnomers and many other flora and fauna of this world can be found in Grand Sage Timmothy's Fantastic Book of Bug's n'Stuff and other fine books at your local library.
