Lyta A'lon

Description

A descendant of Welregar of Ebonshire and Lady B'gt'ts, she played a large role in the Second Great Elemenstation War. She is described as a tall, beautiful woman having dark red hair, green eyes, pointed ears and a very well-endowed athletic body which oddly enough possessed large white feathered wings. Lyta A’lon is one of the tallest women in ELotH:TES canon, standing at 6 hoofhands and 4 squith tall. Not only was Lyta beautiful she was also described as super intelligent, strong and quick on her feet, plus a very accomplished swordswoman.

She wielded her ancestor’s weapon called the Triskaidekaphilia, which she preferred to keep in the twelfth setting which was a bastard sword that bestowed great wisdom. She also possessed The Intransigent Shield, which she used in combination with her bastard sword to devastating effect. She wore Holl'onnianya's Tiara which she got from Ver'na, Lady B’gt’ts familiar who at the time that Lyta A’lon lived was a full grown adult platinum dragon. Some have claimed that she used the Armor of Fullchesthood but it is unlikely as any larger assets than she already (and they were considerable even for her size) had would be more of a burden in combat.

She was a Hotblood and utilized her Fire Elemenstation in combination with her swordswomanship to enhance her ability to fight at both close range and at long range. Lyta was accompained by her armoire furniliar, Trina, who held her spare clothes, armor, and occassionally her weapons, making sure they were safe on their travels. Needless to say that Lyta A’lon was an epic hero. It was known also that she tended to have a quick temper and be very passionate about everything that she did. This seemed to play well with S'yrf'yl the Immortal as the two seemed to be a bit of an item during the Second Great Elemenstation War.

Sources

  • Book 4: Gavment Rayling mentions her in the stories he tells of the Second Great Elemenstation War. He continually refers to her as “that amazon” in his stories but from other tales in the Book that mention her name it can be extrapolated that it was her. It is also implied in the book that she may still be alive during Book 4.
  • Something Wicker This Way Comes: She is one of the main characters in the book along with Gavment Rayling. The tale of the Second Great Elemenstation War is told in this work.

Theories

An oddity about Lyta A’lon is her wings which none of her ancestors seem to have possessed. A number of theories have been panned in canon and by fans as to how she got these wings and who she is.

  • Lady B’gt’ts Descendant: This theory relies on the fact that Lady B’gt’ts had an odd lineage and burnt herself out with Life energy fighting the Charnel Wyrm. This combination led to some weird traits that appeared in her decendants such as cat ears, frog tongue, stripes, etc. It seems that Lyta’s mutation is her wings, however it should be pointed out again that none of her ancestors seemed to have wings.
  • Child of Holl'onnianya: Another theory states that Lyta is a child of Holl'onnianya, the Elven Goddess of Might and Magicke. While this theory is not necessarily ruled out by her lineage it isn’t confirmed either as her parents names aren’t mentioned in canon but only that she is descended from Lady B’gt’ts and Welregar of Ebonshire. However her red hair, intelligence, affinity magic, and passion all seem to point to the possibility that she could be a child of Holl’onnianya. It has also been noted that those who are children of deities tend to have characteristics of a divine creature such as wings.
  • Holl'onnianya’s Avatar: It is possible that Lyta A’lon could be Holl'onnianya’s Avatar. She does fit the standard physical description of Holl'onnianya. She also has a similar attitude, elemental affinity, and personality. Deities have been known to physically exist on Battal before such as Hygrad the Mighty and Kuluk'shokourung'tagag'onk, so this wouldn’t be an exception. While it is said that Holl'onnianya had an epic libido, it was for an Elf, which means that an epic libido for an Elf would be about a normal libido for a human. However opponents of this theory point out that Lyta is said to be a descendant of two mortals which means she had to be born. The counterargument is that nothing is stopping a god/goddess from making an avatar out of a mortal infant. Plus it would be really cool if it was the case.
As it stands right now all theories have credence and canon has had no definitive say on the matter. The Holl'onnianya theories are supported by Elven tales about her and the Life theory is also quite possible in the realm of ELotH:TES. Many a Fan Fiction has been written on this topic and many more will likely be written before it is decided.

Comments

Personally I prefer the Holl'onnianya’s Avatar Theory for her as it would be more epic. Also this is all the information I have on her but I know that there was going to be a book coming out soon (or recently came out) that was going to go over the Second Great Elemenstation War but I don’t remember what it was. –bfg00-
That would be Something Wicker This Way Comes, which is a combination Horror/War novel that covers the myriad horrible monsters, ghosts, and spooks unleashed by the Wicked Wicker during the war and their effects throughout Battal. It came out last October, but I haven't picked it up. I've heard it described as "Monster Squad meets Ghostbusters meets Van Helsing meets Saving Private Ryan" in the reviews in the Barnes and Noble Newsletter. - Zeta
Ah, I haven't looked at that either I've been too busy reading the ElemenstorLance books, which is what reminded me of this character. I seem to remember the Wicked Wicker being mentioned in Book 4 in conjunction with the stories told about the War. I think it was Radwrack the Black that was mentioned as being controlled by the Wicked Wicker in Book 4 but I could be wrong on that. -bfg00-
