Lesser Elemenstation

Lesser Elemenstation is much like High Elemenstation, but way, way less Epic.

Many of the races of Battal have a natural gift for Lesser Elemenstation. Lesser Elemenstation is distinguishable from High Elemestation in several fundamental ways. First, Lesser Elemenstation does not require the manifestation of, er, Elemanifestations. This both simplifies the process of elemenstoring and greatly limits its power. Races with gifts of Lesser Elemenstation are generally capable of only fairly minor and well-defined types of elemenstoring. For example, Witch-Elves are capable of flight, but little else, even within the element of Air. These races with gifts of Lesser Elemenstation are, paradoxically, almost universally incapable of practicing High Elemenstation at all. Men, being utterly devoid of any Lesser Elemenstation ability, are the most suited to the pursuit of High Elemenstation. Women, too, I guess.

While sometimes confused with Sorcery, Lesser Elemenstation is distinctly different, requiring a Knack-esque inborn gift. Study of Lesser Elemenstation has led a rare few throughout history to discover its High counterpart before Harbinger Portent gained his from the Starborn Gem. These Proto-Elemenstors were the source of several legends and aberrant reports of gear-like magic before 15,678 and during the early years of The Ending Times. Only a handful--liberal estimates say around nine or ten throughout the entire history of Battal--have ever existed, and are more popularly known as stumbly-wumblies, thanks to their chaotic experiments and numerous disasters.
