Obscure Item Commands Law

  1. Under no circumstances will a magic item be activated by a vocal command in the user's native language.
    1. Commands in a dead language are preferred.
    2. Failing that an item may accept commands in a living language if the creator can prove before a committee of at least 3 1/2 neutral parties and 2 representatives of the Item Law Makers Guild the following:
      1. That the creator does not understand the chosen language.
      2. That the item in question will never end up in the hands of a bearer who speaks the chosen language, and particularly that no bearer of the item will understand the specific command words in any context other than as a command to said item.
        1. Timesorc'ley is allowed as evidence both for and against the chosen commands.
  2. This law does not apply to items capable of speech as defined in Item Law #141.
