Law 333

The Apathetic Law

  1. It is within the purview of the law, and the enforcers thereof, to have discretionary governance over all items enforced or encompassed by said laws.
    1. Said law can be said to be an escape clause from enforcement of other laws when applied within the existing legal code, although application of this law does not presume to merit release of obligation to other laws.

Notes

The author of this law was an extremely cunning linguist. So cunning in fact that the actual intended purpose of the law is obscured by history. The practical boundaries of this law's authority are best described anecdotally.

Commonly known as the Apathetic Law. When someone invokes this law as a legal measure they are stating that they don't give a flying grilled squid's behind about whatever the topic of discussion is.

For the first several hundred years no one used this particular law to any effect. However one day a young advocate declared that he "333'd" his oppositions arguments. This so took his opponent aback that he was left speechless and so lost the case. Amazed by the success of this tactic, soon everyone was using the law. It even spread to non-legal matters. Soldiers would 333 their officer's orders. Children would 333 their mothers. It got so bad that soon there was no one who was willing to care about anything.

But all this apathy had its downside. For it was enough to summon Bob, the Patron Dyemon-Lord of Apathy. This massive brick-shaped dyemon stepped through a gargantuan portal and proceeded to sit and lie around and generally get in the way while not doing anything constructive. His arrival however seemed to break the apathetic spell that had been cast over the land and people rushed into a flurry of activity. Seeing so much hard work soon drove Bob back to his unkempt pit and the population rejoiced.

While still technically an item law, Law 333 is offically fobidden from use on pain of a nose thwacking by Law 334. However it still remains in occasional use among the populace and "giving someone a 333" can still be heard yelled by upity teenagers at there parents when they ask them to clean their rooms.

Despite the relatively minor position of the law, Law 333 has been repeatedly evoked by James Langomedes, and it is known that the number 333 was scrawled on the wall in red* near where he was found shortly before his lapse into a coma. It is unknown what the significance of the law is.
