Jan'et Plain

Born Janet Pla'in she changed her name during her rebellous teen years. A home maker from Weekawgin, MI, Jan'et had no formal training as an author beyond high school english (straight B+ student) but none the less she is the author of the Divine Secrets of the Wiz-Wiz Sisterhood novel in the ElemenstorLance series.

With an informal charm and folksy style, many mainstream readers have found this novel to be rather enjoyable, but amongst the hardcore fantasy fans there is little fare here in which they find purchase.

Jan'et then threw herself into the genre before attempting her second fantasy novel. She went to her local Barnes & Nobel and bought a large random "representative" sample of novels from the Fantasy/Sci Fi section based largely on cover art. She then read them voraciously, taking copious notes on style and story elements. Her next book, The Hitchhiker's Guide to Battal, was the result of what she considered to be a much better researched and informed genre appropriate novel based on careful examination and reflection. This sincere effort to "conform to the pattern" has lead to one of the most hilarious and skewering, although entirely unintentional, parodies of typical fantasy cliche.

Perhaps not coincidentally, this author is also the author of a line of "self-help" books published from 1993-1997 entitled "The Hitchhikers Guide To..."
