It Takes Two to Elemenstrate

The Wizbits, Episode 302

Aired 15th September, 2001

Summary

When Zula and Penny are captured by Reyarteb's minions and locked in a celler, the two must combine their skills to escape and rejoin the others.

Moral

Zula: There's some things you just can't do--

Penny: --or, sometimes, buy--

Zula: --on your own. When this happens, it's up to you to get the help you need. Your friends, your parents, your teachers; all of them can be grifted into helping you if you try hard enough.

Notes

One of the few episodes of The Wizbits to focus mainly on 'the girls'. Only 5 minutes of screentime was for Skip and Lander, during which they fight about whose fault it is that the girls got captured. The fight is never resolved in the episode itself. Writer Melissa Eberhart reportedly thought the girls weren't getting enough screentime, and thus set to work on this episode. When James Langomedes was questioned about this, he seemed surprised that the show had 'girls' at all.

This is quite a departure from the Japanese version where all four of the kids are trapped in the celler. With clever editing, and reuse and resequencing of animation (like when Hallau continues to retrap the girls in the Library of Oom), the episode was cut to only depict Zula and Penny as being captured.
