Elemenstor Gearstrike Episode EG106

Aired 24 May 2006

Summary

It's unclear if what begins this episode really happens or if it is symbolic of some sort of representation of the emotional essense of the moment, but the scene begins with Lady Absinthia standing above her crypt, looking at the zombified Gyermo, the exultant Armano, and a black robed collection of cult members. After a moment of dead silence except for a distant dripping of water (or is that blood?) Lady Absinthia reaches back into the crypt and pulls out a ornately decorated (presumably those are Tribbit skulls) electric guitar and begins to rock out hard! A heavy fuzz and distortion j-rock sequence then begins, shots going back and forth between Absinthia and various other characters rocking out and montage footage of time passing, Mayumi, Yellow Fang, Rink, and Sdjana recovering from the aftermath of an epic battle and structures and cities being rebuilt.

The second half of the episode is mostly playing out Mayumi and Yellow Fang trying to find a Dragonapple wine winery in south of Middleclang where they can find work and lodging. They end up in a tavern in Little Vinkum, which has been flooded with refugees. At the end of the episode Rink staggers into the tavern where they are and says, "To the south... war." before collapsing.

Notes

A theme that runs throughout the episode is that of desperation. The writing talent manages to make the rebuilding process (described as "1920s-silent-comedy-esque") poignant; much has been attributed to the J-rock stylings of Lady Absinthia, or more precicely, contributing guitarsmen (his term) Fuutubol Purojecuta.

While there has been some arguement over weather the electric guitar scene was literal or figurative, it seems as though it will make a return.
