Hasbro

Hasbro was founded in 1923 by two brothers, Henry and Helal Hassenfeld, in a small office in Providence, Rhode Island. Originally named Hassenfeld Brothers, the Company first sold textile remnants, but soon moved into manufacturing pencil boxes and school supplies. Later a "groundbreaking" toy was created in 1952 -- MR. POTATO HEAD! MR. POTATO HEAD was the first major toy success for Hasbro and revolutionized the toy industry by being the first toy to be advertised on television.

The company would eventually go on to absorb other such major toy companies as Kenner, Tonka, Parker Bros, and many others.

The primary link to ELotH is as the American distributor of tie-in toys related to the Elemental Monster Duel TCG, under the brand Monsters of the Hierarchs.

It is the backstory told on the backs of the packaging for these toys which actually laid the groundwork for what we know as the Elemenstor Saga today because the toys would go on to inspire The Sundering of Vhaxdi, and later the American CCG.

Such seminal characters as Harbinger Portent, Char Reyarteb, and King Ronard all can trace their roots to the tiny bits of copy which offered the first thumbnail sketches of what they might become.

The impact on the course of the series based on these contributions is perhaps debatable, but none can argue the impact made by Hasbro with the release of Wave 2 of the MotH toys. In an attempt to repurpose a bulk supply of excess doll furniture, the concept of Furniliars was invented. It is unclear who within the organization made the decision, or how it came about, but lore within the company says that an intern in the shipping department came up with the idea minutes before the FedEx of approved additions to the line went out. Some versions of the legend state that the intern later committed suicide because of the fact that he essentially created the concept of Furnies while others state that he was a furnie from the beginning.
