Gweldorf

A Grottoling who becomes a companion of Yorn in Tales of Yorn.

Gweldorf searched desperately for his charcoal. Draftings and sketches were piled upon his work desk which was carved from the underside of a still living oak tree only a few feet above his cave. The intricate design of his desk allowed for the roots to be used for a variety of purposes. Various strings and pulleys let him adjust his seat, scratch his back, pick his nose and ears, and a multitude of other menial tasks. Parchment lay all about the room, mixed with small pieces of wood and scraps of metal. Half built devices were scattered about with plans tacked on their sides. Strings and levers littered the floor, charcoal smudges were everywhere. He then realized where his charcoal was. After removing it from behind his ear he pulled out a blank piece of parchment and wrote, "NOTE: A device that prevents the loss of charcoal."

Next to it he drew a few sketches of seemingly ridiculous solutions to this problem. His attention suddenly shifted, though he was determined to continue his work. He sniffed. Then he sniffed again. Then again, and again. Then a smile fell to his face as he mumbled, "Root Tea."

He would just finish here then he would join the others for what was sure to be a hardy dinner. He completed his task and straightened his back, pulling a string and causing a series of branches to give him a pleasing back rub. He held his paper up and read it back to himself aloud.

"NOTE: A device that prevents the loss of charcoal tea," as he said this, a puzzled look came to his face. "Charcoal tea?" he said in a confused tone. It took Gweldorf about 3 minutes to work out what he had done where upon he fell to the floor for a well deserved laugh.
