Grottolings
Grottolings are a race of Gnomish Goblins with dull grey-green skin, bent frames, long limbs, stubby fingers and a thatch of black straw-like hair on top of their heads (and sometimes under their long pointed noses.) They are found on the Great Plateaus of the Mist Sea in southern Yymp.
All Grottolings fall into one of three categories.
Forgetful Tinkerer: Inventive and solitary, the Forgetful Tinkerer makes his home in the base of a large hollowed tree, drinks Root Tea, and draws up plans to inventions that will never be built, or starts unplanned projects that will never be properly finished.
Tribal Shaman: A practicianer of Shamanic Elemenstation. Both a warrior and a healer, using his abilities for the betterment of his Grottoling tribe. Members of the same conclave all bear the same name (for instance: Buddy.)
Tribal Kinfolk: With no special ability in Elemenstation, and either too great an attention span or too little inventiveness the Grottoling Tribal Kinfolk fill their time with skulking about, raising the younglings, foraging for food for the tribe, and running inscrutable errands for the Tribal Shamans.
She, of course, had heard the rumors of those who had lived above the fog before the
Men arrived. Ones who were not like those driven here from out of the mist below. She had always believed them to be fairy tales, made up to keep the children in bed at night. But now she saw, with aghast horror, a vaguely human figure moving in the moonlight, picking its way along the edge of the cliff. She silently pushed herself as close to the tree as possible.
