Grand Elemenstor Raffleston

Raffleston first appeared in the TCG during a special "Black History Month" mini-deck release featuring characters based on prominent African American figures.

Grand Elemenstor Raffleston was designed as an homage to George Washington Carver and is quite possibly one of the most positive depictions of a minority in the entire EloTH:TES cannon to date. Much better than King Becky of the Lowlands, who was supposedly based on Rosa Parks and also included in the expansion, anyways.

Ironically, he bears little resemblance to George Washington Carver, and looks more like a black Mr. Peanut, something that later led to a lawsuit from Planterns as well as an outcry from African Americans.

In response, Geew Carver was created to "fix" the problem by being a more literal tribute to Dr. Carver.

Early Life

Raffleston was born to a couple of Herbalists living in the The Mincing Kingdom. Discovering the Knack at an early age, his parents were thrilled with his supernatural powers and mistakenly bragged that their son had the makings of a great Borner.

Although he had many brothers and sisters, Raffleston's siblings were picked off one by one in Gryphon attacks, which the Mincing Kingdom was infamous for.

With his family making less money due to the massive death toll negatively affecting their ability to acquire Herbs, Raffleston helped the town cultivate their Dripping Tree of Ng orchard, and discovered that the Soul Walnuts replenished Elemental power and could only be opened with the hoof of a horse. With this discovery, Raffleston's lifelong love affair with legumes, nuts, and seeds began.

Education

After his parents passed away, Raffleston set off across the country researching plants and meeting other Elemenstors, and developing his Elemenstation talent. He soon discovered that he liked the flora in Ezermethalon the best and settled down.

The High Life

Raffleston opened up a snack shop and soon became wealthy with the profits he made selling delicious mixed nuts. Wealthy over night, Raffleston had no idea how to fit in with the nouveau riche and only indulged his newfound wealth by purchasing a ranch to breed horses and begin growing peanuts and Dripping Trees of Ng.

He attempted to join several Country Clubs, only to end up being turned down for his traditional attire of overalls and a straw hat. Finally, he invested much of his money into what he thought appeared to be a "ritzy" new wardrobe, including a cane, tuxedo, monacle, spats, and top hat (that would later become the Remaindering Hat).

Although he was let into the clubs, the false aura of pomposity he put off ended up not endearing him particularly to his new peers. After a fistfight with King T'n'r, Raffleston realized he must be true to himself and resigned from upper-class life (although he had grown to like the top hat, cane, and monacle which remains his trademark look).

This era was not a total loss in his life, however, as he met Gilgamar, Schmelgabel, and Slobodan during this period. The four of them became fast friends and appreciated Raffleston's irreverent sense of humor, and did not even seem to mind that he constantly smelled like peanuts.

Hero

The four friends soon joined the Moonlit Order, soon after Raffleston finished work on the mighty Peanut Wand. Each of them having strong moral codes and a hatred for Dark Elemenstation, they rose up through the ranks. While Raffleston never actually combated Dark Elemenstors, he supplied a steady flow of delicious snacks to those who did.

Raffleston was the only one of the four to rise to the ranks of the Elder Scion Collective, helping them govern in the interns when the Staff of the High Augur did not have an owner.

Teacher

It was Raffleston who suggested that he and his longtime companions create a school of Elemenstation upon which they may impart their hatred of Dark Elemenstation to a younger generation. The quarted modeled themselves after the Four Underdogs, they founded the Institute Of Accoutermentia. Raffleston founded Raffleston House, for young Elemenstors who are "you know, good, but not really great".

Raffleston's top hat was Transchanted into the Remaindering Hat, which selected which house students would be sorted into.

Immortal

As his friends passed away to old age, Raffleston continued to live on as a member of the Elder Scion Collective. With the Staff of High Augur missing for over 3,000 years, Raffleston took up several hobbies until Theoric the Eversnide appeared and finally allowed them to give up their immortality.

Personal Life

It is a little known fact that Raffleston was omnisexual. Men, Women Folk, Children, Creatures, or Furniliars, he wasn't choosy - he'd have sex with all of them. More than one at the same time, if he could manage it. However, his lack of any real sexual charisma kept his relationships limited to a few embaressing dates with the local Ezermethalonian women.

The closest thing Raffleston ever had to a real relationship was actually proposed in a well regarded fan fiction that depicted a relatively long living arrangement with Trafficant the Sly that Trafficant later broke off due to sexual confusion and a growing hatred of peanuts.

Raffleston's bizarre sexual fetishes inspired him to write the 120 Days of Wang, in which he adopts an undead, murderous, Wangeese, hermaphrodite. Which seemed to be his favorite fetish.

Additional Contributions

Raffleston is also thought to be the discoverer of the vaguely peanut-y smelling mineral Rafflestone, used as armor late in last century of the 17th millenium by the knights of Shenda. During the Century of Fire the War Men fell upon parties of defending Shendian Knights with great relish, delighting in the opportunity to partake in a roasted peanuty snack.
