Final Battle Four: The Myrkmoom Menace (Part 1) (第四最後の決戦:マークムーマメナス(前半))

Super ElamenSTAR Episode 412

Aired 11th December, 1999

Summary

This episode opens with a montage of the "typical morning activities" of the Grand Elemenstors. Lander is working with students to raise walls and clear rubble while Professor Dervmont naps. Zula is flitting from task to task while her students and Hallau try to keep her focused long enough to teach them something. Phila has managed to find a completed classroom and is conducting what appears to be an excruciatingly boring lesson (Myrtle has fallen asleep, much to Phila's annoyance). Blunder is passed out (presumably drunk) in front of a door, behind which Wendel is having a small brunch-time orgy with three or four female students; what appears to be the Rubber Pleasure Blade of the Nether Regions or perhaps The Epic Dirk of Wangtastikor is present in the scene. He promises one of the young women that she can be a professor at the school very soon. Her face is partially obscured, but many fans speculate that this is Razumifa Bulinma.

All four activities are interrupted as pale purple abominations come swarming through the windows. Phila recognizes them and screams, "Myrkmoomin! Everyone out! Be on your guard for..."

Chaos ensues; gears are being struck left and right by students and instructors alike. Each group of students beats back the Myrkmoomin using their own unique elements, and the newly obtained wands of the Grand Elemenstors come into play.

The scene cuts to Phila, who has been separated from her students. She is beating back the Myrkmoomin but she is clearly agitated and increasingly panicked. The audience sees a looming shadow behind her, and a sultry voice speaks, "Hello, my pet." Fear is plain on Phila's face as she shrieks...

The four schools of Elemenstation come together in the main courtyard and drive the last of the Myrkmoomin out the front gates. Only then is it realized that Phila is missing.

The final scene cuts back to Phila, who is strapped to a table built entirely of bones. Her wand rests nearby, and we see a woman's hand pick it up. "Welcome, Phila," says the sultry voice as the camera pans to show the face of the Dark Elemenstrix Kapybara. "Welcome back to Myrkmoom!"

Notes

Wendel's mid-coital promise to his student that she can be a professor soon is only the second reference to anyone other than the Grand Elemenstors teaching at the Cerulean Citadel (the first reference being to Gromruffle the Understated; some fans do not count this reference because Episode 410 does not explicitly state that Gromruffle is a professor). However later episodes, particularly Hatrack of the Clones, depict a number of additional instructors.

We previously saw a (somewhat younger) Kapybara in Episode 216. She delivered a severe emotional and physical beating to Phila (at that point a child), who eventually escaped on her own.

Favorite Moments

  • The voltron-like 4 way screen fractures used so often in this episode (and so rarely throughout the rest of the series) that show reaction shots of the faces of all four underdogs at once.

Comments

Tim anybody notice this comes after "final battle five"?
Kenneth Pike That was "Final Battle V" as in "Final Battle VEE"... you know, like "Sailor Moon S" or "ElamenSTAR R" or "Dragon Ball Z" or whatever. Since the second and fourth final battles are actually numbered, and instead of using the kanji for "five" the title uses the roman letter V. Those wacky Japanese animators!
