FaeriWraethe
Bogyn's Nastiness Rating: 128 (Incomprehensibly Nasty)
Creature Families: Fae
The FaeriWraethes were, in legend, a nearly-forgotten ancestor of the elves. They were great and powerful, and more than anything else, to be feared; they had immense and almost incomprehensible powers, and could peer through time and space with the effort most Men take to breathe.
It is unknown what happened to the Faeri Wraethes, only that they left accurate records in a precursor to the Runeglyphabet, close enough to be translatable. Near the end of the text, it was implied they were having skirmishes with "the Dwellers of the Chrome Garden." That the beings who inhabited the Chrome Garden were destroyed by Xoil in a freak accident meant to kill some rats could mean the Faeri Wraethes met their end in the same incident.
As to why nearly-omnipotent beings could be killed at all, much less by something as physical as Xoil, implies either...
- That Xoil truly is the ultimate toxin;
- That the Faeri Wraethes, though mighty, were ultimately slaves to destiny;
- That the Faeri Wraethes may have just been stroking their egoes.
