Enter MooMaa! (Part 1)

The Wizbits, Episode 209

Aired 5 November 2000

Summary

The legendary episode in which MooMaa first appeared. Lord Kinlo, tired of being unable to defeat the Wizbits, decides to hire the ultimate foe to defeat them--none other than MooMaa, the ectoplasmic-sword-wielding fedora-bearing Dyemon-cursed butt-kicker. Meanwhile, the Wizbits are trying to resolve a dispute even Throtractus the Unusually Long-Lived and Remarkably Verbose can't settle. But before they can talk him down from punishing a kid innocent of pickpocketing, MooMaa attacks!

MooMaa's first appearance is an appropriately hardcore one, as he manages to fight the Wizbits into a standstill, hence the two-part episode.

Moral

Penny: Ow, my zyphoid process!

Zula: My clavicle, my poor, poor clavicle...

Doodle: Uh, my gall-bladder kind of hurts.

Lander: Kids, when there's a mean guy trying to beat you up, I'd recommend you lie back and let be whaled on for a while. Like Confucius said: "When rape is inevitable, lie back and enjoy it."

Notes

In this episode, The Wizbits fight MooMaa in his lair, Garver Crypt. They are trapped with MooMaa and appear as though they will be defeated, but a kindly undertaker releases them at the last minute. Most of the Wizbits escape, leaving Doodle to fend off MooMaa.

This episode gives a considerable amount of screen time the previously-unnamed judge of Choxo Town, who had appeared in two earlier Wizbits episodes in small roles. According to this episode, the judge's name is Throtractus the Unusually Long-Lived and Remarkably Verbose, which is the same as the son of Royce Binwyck and Stathia, two of the main characters in the book series Epic of Epochal Accoutrements. Thotractus further corroborates the link by mentioning his father Binwyck in the second act of the episode. Fans are generally uneasy with this, because the Epic series are of questionable origin and most agree that it is a non-canonical source. It should be noted that the original Japanese version of this show used a different name for the judge and not a Romanization of Thotractus' name, indicating that the original writers did not intend to make a link to the Epic series.

Comments

Someone really needs to flesh out this episode, I'm just providing the bones, and to make a mention of the the character of Thotractus the Unusually Long-Lived and Remarkably Verbose that someone had helpfully mentioned on the Epic of Epochal Accoutrements page. Other than that, I don't think I'm well-versed enough in this episode to provide any more details. -lou
