Elder Scion Collective
Ostensibly, a group of seven Elemenstor elder members within the Moonlit Order who are responsible for ordaining the groups leader, an Elemenstor known as the High Augur.
The rank of High Augur is attained merely by obtaining the Staff of the High Augur. This made the staff very sought after indeed and so it is usually hidden. If a High Augur dies unexpectedly it is possible that the position will be unfilled for a number of days, weeks, or even years. To account for this power gap. The secondary responsibility of the Elder Scion Collective is to govern the organization in the interim between High Augurs.
Due to secret and shadowy rituals performed by the council, members who are part of the collective during its governance period are immortal. This is a precaution that usually goes largely unnoticed.
The Elder Scion Collective, typically ignored and largely cerimonial came to the height of its prominence when the Staff of the High Augur disappeared for the 3,371 years between 16,648 to 20,019. During this time seven rather marginal Elemenstors were brought suddenly into a position of long term leadership of this shadowy organization. The group presiding during this period became known as the "Eternal Scion".
In order to circumvent the possibility for abuse of power under normal circumstances, and driven by beliefs about chaos and balance drawn from the founding principals of the Moonlit Order, there were several rules set forth that one must meet in order to be eligible to sit on the council.
Firstly the character of the Elemenstor must be above reproach. Additional they must have been life long members of the order ("life long" beginning from the age of 16, when members are first recruited). Finally, and most interestingly, it is forbidden that they be Elemenstors of any of the Primary or Secondary Elements. This resulting in a very eccelectic and varied group.
When Theoric the Eversnide appeared to the Eternal Scion with the staff, they knew their tour of duty was ended and soon after that the years would finally catch them (Ebberontimax the Brilliantly Golden, being a Golden Dragon in human form, was the sole exception). They asked him for 16 years to put their affairs in order and in what was called his 'least snide moment' he accepted... snidely.
