Out of Thin Air

Summary

Prologue: Fanta is sobbing, and between the sobs, retells the story of the Pictoratice attack on her village, where her father is dragged from her grasp and into the swamps of Yore. Credits.

Act I: Fanta is on her own, seeking the strength and knowledge she needs to return home and slay the Pictorace. It's been hard for her on the road, unaccustomed to fending for herself. She is caught stealing a loaf of bread from the windowsill of an old woman, and the two begin to talk about everything she's been through. Let go with a warning, Fanta begins to wonder if she should just go home.

Act II: Sleeping in the ruins of a cloister in Blee, Fanta awakes to the slavering sound of Seeping Knawers. She closes her eyes and screams. Seconds later a rumble and blast of dust cause her to open her eyes, the Knawers have been dispatched and Lander is standing there, sillouetted by a shaft of sunlight coming in through the broken ceiling. He helps her to her feet and the two begin talking of Lander's powers, and decide to travel together.

Act III: The days blur together, practicing elemenstation and meeting new friends. First Wendell (a little difficult at first), then Myrtle. After the night of the storm, Fanta is standing on the battlements L'fh'ik, watching the sun rise. Lander approaches from behind and asks her if she still wants to go home. "Not quite yet" she replies.
