Epic Legends of the Hierarchs: The Elemenstor Saga Player's Handbook

ELotH: TES Player's Handbook is an essential guide to the ELotH: TES - Pen and Paper RPG. It contained condensed, but detailed, information on most aspects of the game, plus a variety of useful charts and tables.

It is perhaps best known for its detailed chapter Planes of Battal, which gathered information about every known Plane of existence in Battal, as well as many that were previously unknown. This expansion of the known Planes proved fertile ground for creators and gamers alike, allowing for many new epic stories, as well as less beloved items, such as the Cuddlings (who owe their backstory to the mention in the book of their native Plane, Pelago Lai).

The book was first published in 1998 by Black Fox Games in a very small edition, as the publishers were unsure how high the demand would be. When the book sold out in mere days, they rushed a second, massive, printing into production. Unfortunately, they chose extremely cheap materials for this second printing, as it was the stuff they had on hand. While there was some outcry over this, sales did not dwindle, nor did stock on hand (it had been a really big print run), so a third printing never materialized. This led to the sad truth that by 2005, most copies from the second printing had deteriorated to the point of uselessness and even Black Fox Games had to admit that their backstock was useless and stopped selling it. They could not reprint it at that point, however, because they had lost the license in the intervening years. With the first print run having been so small, this book in readable condition became a highly sought-after collectible, fetching prices upwards of $125 on Internet auction Sites.

In 2007, Realmworlds Publishing announced a new, Gold Cover edition of the ELotH: TES Player's Handbook. Although positioned as a highly sought-after collectible (officially the "Tenth Anniversary Edition", though it was released a year early), it is, in fact, an open-ended print run and will likely be available at its original cover price (if not, indeed, at a substantial discount) for many years to come.
