Blindbat

A species of bat native to Zonardia. They long ago lost the ability to echolocate, and adapted to living in caves by growing bulbous bulbs on their posteriors with light up areas with bioluminescence. To escape predators, they use all of the stored light in their hineys to let off a single gigantic blast of light which can permanently blind those unforunate enough to see it, hence their name.

Occupants of Realgem Undercity employ a flock of tamed Blindbats to illuminate their underground metropolis.
